EID Arch's Ping Jiang was Awarded the 2020 Asia Architecture Award
Recently, the Asia Architects Association (ARCASIA) announced the winners of this year’s ARCASIA Awards for Architecture. The Tibet Metok Meteorological Center, designed by EID Arch's chief architect Jiang Ping, received an Honorary Mention in the Public Amenity: Institutional Buildings category. This marks Jiang Ping's first involvement in the ARCASIA Awards, a significant recognition for the Chinese-American architect in the Asian architectural community.
JURY CITATION
The project combined the functions of a meteorological center as well as a living space serving the community with infrastructure. The form of the building adopted some of the elements of Tibet traditional architecture while interpreted them in a modern way, nicely blending into the context and texture of the existing town.
The Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA), founded in 1979 in Jakarta, Indonesia, is a collective of 21 of the most representative and authoritative architectural associations from across Asia. These categories include 10 subcategories, with awards presented in the form of Gold Awards, Honorary Mentions, and Nominations.
