Ping Jiang, Founding Partner of EID Architecture, has been invited to deliver a keynote speech at this international seminar. The event will also feature renowned international architectural firms, including MVRDV, Perry Clake Perry Architects (PCPA), CRTKL, and others. Participants and industry professionals will gather in Shanghai to share a series of keynote speeches and practical experiences, discussing the new developments in the horizontal dimensions of high-rise architecture. The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is a global leading organization focused on the concepts, design, construction, and operation of tall buildings and future cities.
Conference Background
As many architects and visionaries have revealed over the past century, the potential to enrich cities through the connection of high-rise buildings and the reshaping of urban space in the air is immense. With the accelerating process of global urbanization, there is an increasing need to rethink how we can push the boundaries of the vertical dimension of buildings and develop public spaces in the horizontal plane. Today, new transportation technologies and structural engineering practices seem to make the development of horizontal space more feasible. However, barriers still exist at the cultural, institutional, and legal levels. To overcome these challenges, we need more practical case studies to demonstrate that the horizontal dimension holds broader application value than ever before.
